celebration

I apologize for always taking the same pictures of Jordana over and over again…just a different blanket and outfit. I figure my parents and sisters can’t see her on a regular basis so it gives them a way to see how big she’s getting each and everyday! I’m biased, but I think my kid is adorable.

She’s already starting to wear 3 month clothing. Thanks for this outfit Auntie Maya! I have to make sure she wears her many clothes before she outgrows them.

Yesterday, Teddy, Joanna and Chloe came by to visit and to wish Earl a Happy Birthday. The last time we saw Chloe was when she was Jordana’s age and this month she’s turning 1!! We can’t wait to go to her birthday party. She’s a sweet girl with sweet parents. Teddy and Earl met in their MBA program and Joanna happens to know some of Earl’s cousins. Small world.

Chloe is starting to walk. I love how she took off only one of her socks.

Earl and I finally had a date night at Capital Grille. Maya recommended we go to this restaurant because she said their steaks changed her life. It was good… but she’s being a little dramatic. I loved it because we were given complimentary champagne for Earl’s birthday and this awesome chocolate cake for dessert.

The birthday boy with the best gift of his life

*** I have to note that I wrote this post with both hands because Jordana is sleeping by herself in the bassinet. I wonder how long it will last? So far it’s been 27 minutes.

Today is Earl’s 32nd birthday and I just wanted to let everyone know that Jordana and I are very lucky to have him in our lives. He’s an amazing man who demonstrates kindness, love and above all, patience (a must if you’re going to be with someone like me). He’s my best friend and is a fabulous father. I cannot imagine my life without him. Happy Birthday to the love of my life!

7 weeks

Before Micah’s birthday party, we went to church at St. Mark’s for the first time. St Mark’s is the church we normally go to and where Earl went to grade school. Jordana’s grandfather was the lector that day making her first time there even more special. After Micah’s birthday, we went over to Earl’s parents’ house for dinner to celebrate Earl’s birthday a little early. While we were there Jordy was awake and calm for a really long time so we took advantage of taking pictures with her. She’s like a little celebrity!

let’s party

Yesterday we went to Micah’s 1st birthday party. Micah is 1/4 Korean so his grandmother bought him a traditional Korean outfit. It was so cute!

Micah really wanted to play with Jordy, but…..

she wasn’t feeling it

She fell asleep…I guess she knew she couldn’t have cake anyway

It was absolutely gorgeous this last weekend. We took a nice walk at Magnuson Park. The last time Earl and I went there was 10 years ago when I visited Seattle for the first time. We definitely need to go there more often.

it takes a village

Earl is finally done traveling for a while. It’s crazy that he’s travelled for work three weeks in a row. We’re (I, especially) extremely lucky to have his parents live so close to us. Last week they came for a few hours each day so I can go to the gym, take a shower and run errands. I know they love spending time with Jordana and we love spending time with them. I can’t believe how much my little girl has grown! She is now starting to smile, she stays awake longer, doesn’t cry when we change her diaper, and loves her swing! She loves it when I sing to her, that I’m running out of songs to sing. I resort to Christmas carols when I can’t think of another song to sing quick enough. She’s 7 weeks now. It is true that they grow up so fast!

As you can see, she’s not a fan of tummy time

rules?

Sorry I’ve been lagging on the blogging lately, but we’ve been busy. Maya was here for a week and it was lovely having her here. I have to admit that our house is a little empty without her. Jordana and I miss her! Last Friday, Earl, Maya and I went to watch the Hangover Part 2. It was our first adult outing. It was like Earl and I had a chaperone on our date.  Jordana was with her grandparents. Maya was always trying to redirect our conversations to adult topics but it was hard and we always went back to talking about Jordana. Oh well, can you blame us? Since then, I’ve been better about getting out of the house without her. I was even able to join Maya on one of her runs. Getting back to the gym is another story, I’ve only been able to do that once so far.

For the past two or three weeks, Jordana and I have had a great routine. She eats, plays a little, sleeps and then it repeats. It’s predictable and I know that when she cries it doesn’t always mean she’s hungry. She’s been having to nurse every 2.5 hours and it’s been working fabulously….BUT, I can’t put her down sometimes for her naps. It’s been hit or miss. Most of the time I can put her down for 20 minutes and sometimes 2 hours. It’s not consistent. I think I posted something about this before. I bring it up again because I bought a book which offered tips on how to put her down when she sleeps. The book basically pointed out all of our bad parenting habits! Of course, after reading this book I felt I had to “fix” our bad habits. Long story short…we had a few really BAD days. Jordana cried a lot and I just kept getting aggravated! The three of us were not sleeping. Earl and I had a discussion that she’s not going to want to be held forever and that she’s only six weeks old. She’s a baby that needs a lot of reassurance and security. We are doing the best we can. We were happy with our routine so for now that’s the routine we’ll stick to. I need to burn the book. At my six week check-up, my doctor said “there are no rules…the only rule is to survive.”

On a brighter note here are a few pics of Jojo (Maya’s nickname for her). I like to call her Jordy. We had a few visitors. I think she’s starting to look a lot like Earl.
