chloe’s first birthday

Last Saturday we attended Chloe’s 1st birthday party. It was at Kelsey Creek Farm in Bellevue. The sun was nice enough to come out towards the end of the day. It was a fun day and the birthday girl was adorable as always. I forgot my camera that day so I stole these from Joanna’s facebook page. Thanks Joanna!

Isn’t Teddy a great photographer?

ahh

It’s no secret if you’ve been keeping up-to-date on our blog that I was having a really hard time adjusting to life with a new baby. The first three weeks were probably the hardest so far. I have to admit I may have suffered a little from postpartum blues. I remember one time I was so frustrated, I asked Earl why some parents would have more than one child. Recently, I’ve come to learn that there are so many wonderful things about being a parent. Every new thing she does is amazing! She is smiling so much now and babbling like crazy. The feelings I have witnessing all of these special moments are indescribable. I now know for sure I want more children. Don’t read into this so much…Earl and I are definitely going to wait.

pardon my double chin. i’m still working on it. haha.

sleeping

When we were in the Bay Area, Jordana was such a big girl and slept all by herself in the Pak and Play (except for the time she slept with her grandparents while Mom and Dad were frolicking around San Francisco). I thought for sure it was temporary and that things would go back to “normal” when we got back home. I was prepared to have her sleep with/on me again. However, she has been sleeping on her own. There have been a few times when I’d have to rock her back to sleep because she’ll startle herself and wake up but, I put her back in the co-sleeper and she would settle. Yesterday, I started putting her in her crib for naps and she’s been doing wonderful. It hasn’t been hard to get her to sleep on her own…yet. I hope I’m not speaking too soon! But, I wouldn’t mind it if she wanted me to hold her the entire time she sleeps. I never thought I would say this, but I miss holding her and watching her sleep. I’m so confused…I don’t know whether to be excited or sad. Now I feel bad for complaining about her not being able to sleep by herself. One thing I did today that was really sad was that I put away all her newborn clothing because she doesn’t fit them anymore. Now, I’m going to watch her sleep and wait until she cries so that I have an excuse to hold her. I’m throwing myself a pity party.

big girl

Tonight when I was putting Jordana to bed, I realized that I was carrying her differently. I wasn’t holding her like a newborn anymore. I got really sad all of a sudden. She’s growing up so fast. Look at how Earl is carrying her in his hands when she was just 5 days old….you can see it in the framed picture in the lower left hand corner. We can’t hold her like that anymore….not that we did on a regular basis. That’s a weird way to hold a baby but you know what I mean.

our last day

Jordana and Oliver finally got to meet each other the day before we left for Seattle. Oliver’s mom, Jessica is one of Earl’s first cousins so it was really nice for their first borns to meet each other. You may remember Oliver and his family from previous posts.

oliver and his super smiley face

it seems like they’re the same size in this picture but they’re not.  oliver’s 5 mos and Jordana’s 2 mos. this pic is a little deceiving.

We have been in San Francisco Bay Area for a few days now and all of us have been having so much fun. Jordana has been spending some much needed quality time with my parents. We have done so much in the last couple of days and it all started with Jordy’s first plane ride. She did awesome! I knew she would. I was more worried about packing all of her things and getting through airport security. Last year at this time, Earl and I went to Greece for two weeks and we packed just as much for this trip. It’s amazing…and so far, we have used everything we brought for her. I thought I would have overpacked.

Sea-Tac. She’s not used to the moby wrap yet.

The flight was easy. It was nice that her first flight was only 2 hours. I nursed her as we were taking off and she slept through the whole flight. Krystina picked us up and had In & Out Burger waiting for us at home. My aunt gave my parents her old pack and play and when we arrived we placed Jordana in it. My Mom just stared at her until we put it in our room.

The weather in the Bay Area has been beautiful. Earl had to work Thursday so Jordana and I hung out with Krystina and my Dad in the morning. We took a walk to a nearby park.

Once Earl was done with work, we went to San Jose to meet with Mila and her family. Mila was born a exactly one week after Jordana. Her parents, Devoir and Desiree are friends of ours from college.

Santana Row

Friday was a day that belonged to my parents and Jordana. My parents were willing to drive Jordana and me to have breakfast with my former co-workers in Palo Alto. After breakfast, Jordana was all theirs as I had lunch with my friend, Trang in Oakland. At night, Earl and I went to San Francisco to have a night out with our friends. When I came home Jordana was sleeping with my parents and it was super cute.

My Dad’s birthday is June 22 so we had a little family party to celebrate his birthday and to introduce Jordana to the rest of the family.

2 months old!

Check out the booties. My Auntie Marita crocheted them. Super cute…I love handmade things.

Jalen and Jordana. Note to self: do not wake a sleeping baby for the sake of a photo op. Jaylen was a good sport. Poor Jordy, my little crybaby.

For Father’s Day, we drove along the coast to Half Moon Bay. The weather was so nice. It’s normally gray and foggy along the coast so we were really lucky.

The famous lobster roll at Sam’s Chowder House

After lunch we drove to San Francisco and took pictures by the Golden Gate Bridge. Since it was Jordana’s first trip with the Bay Area we had to take a picture in front of the historic site. When she’s old enough to understand, we can tell her San Francisco is where it all started for her…Earl and I met here almost 11 years ago.

We have two more days left in the Bay and there are more people she needs to meet so I’ll be doing another update soon. Stay tuned!

happy father’s day

Happy Father’s Day to Earl. It’s his first father’s day and we spent it in the Bay Area with my father. Happy Father’s Day to my Daddy and Father-in-Law as well. It’s an honor to have all three of them in our lives. They mean so much to Jordana and me. They are all hard-working, supportive and loving. Hope you all have a great day! Sam’s Chowder House — Half Moon Bay, Ca

Earl’s best Father’s Day gift — a big smile caught on camera

We are still in the Bay Area. I will post a huge update soon. We are having a marvelous time hanging out with friends and family. And, the weather isn’t too shabby either!

milestones

Jordana is now 8 weeks old and so far this is my favorite week because she is starting to SMILE and COO! It’s so much fun!! We sometimes can have conversations with her (Ok, not really…but it’s as if she has a lot to say). I tried to get it on video but of course when I got the camera ready, she didn’t want to smile or coo anymore. Yesterday was her 2 month well-baby check and she had to get her shots. It wasn’t as bad as I thought, the medical assistant who gave her shots was super quick and I nursed Jordana right after. She pretty much slept the whole day which is normal after they get their shots.

getting her thighs ready

BEFORE the shots. BEFORE we gave her something to really cry about. Earl and I are bad for laughing at her. Haha!

all done

There’s another milestone she hit today. She pooped… and it went up her back! When Joanna and Teddy came over last week, they had asked if Jordana had explosive diapers. She hadn’t yet and they were surprised. Brooke asked me the same thing and told me Olivia has explosive ones. All the while, I was thinking to myself that it had to be the amazing g diapers we use. NOPE! I was wrong. We had to give her an emergency bath at 7:00 this morning. Right now, she’s taking a really good nap.

little friends

Jordana has been hanging out with some of her friends lately (really it’s the parents that are hanging out). Here are some pictures that were taken in the past week. We went to lunch with Max and his Dad, Nicky. We went to our favorite place, Panera Bread. He’s starting to eat solids and really enjoys an apple every now and then. And we also went over to Brooke and Olivia’s place.  I work with Brooke at Children’s and Olivia is about 3 weeks older than Jordana.

Max and his apple. Jordana was sleeping at this time and didn’t participate.
